Tour Description
On this tour, we’ll start the 140km trip to Preah Vihear early in the morning. It’s worth the long drive to get to Preah Vihear on the Thai border as there is no other temple like it in Cambodia. This was a favourite temple of many ancient Angkor kings and was often enlarged and added to which gives the temple a very unique feel.

Moreover, Preah Vihear sits on top of a 500m cliff which sits in the Dangrek Mountains which provides a spectacular view of the surrounding area. This may explain the temples position as it offers a great vantage point over an approaching enemy. Preah Vihear temple is one of the earlier temples and it was built in the early 9th century. It was originally a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, but over the centuries it was gradually converted into a Buddhist temple.

When we get to the temple, we have to change to 4×4 transport to make it up the mountain and explore the temple grounds which cover an area of 380 acres.

On this tour we’ll go to see Beng Mealea temple which is located around 40km from Siem Reap. It was built during the same time as Angkor Wat on the main highway to Kompong Svay. Beng Mealea is a Hindu temple and has been mostly left unrestored. It doesn’t get many visitors due to its location from Siem Reap and it’s a great place to explore without being surrounded by thousands of other tourists.
